The South Asian country of Philippines have decided to ban online porn by using technological blocks. As of Saturday 14th of January 2017 it is impossible for Filipinos to reach such popular websites like Pornhub, xVideos and Redtube. When connecting to said adult websites the visitors’ will be welcomed with a message saying the content is blocked in Philippines under authority of their new law. According to CNN all the major ISPs of the Philippines have been ordered to block said adult websites.

This isn’t uncommon since many other countries such as Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia, Cuba, Thailand, Egypt and Pakistan have banned online porn altogether.

Pornhub has been banned for a good while in China already and was blocked for a while in Russia. They are however known as well for their support for breast cancer awareness project called “Save the Boobs” and environmental campaigns such as “PornHub Gives America Wood”.

According to Pornhub’s 2016 Year in Review the people of Philippines have been spending time in Pornhub much longer than the worldwide average of 9 minutes and 36 seconds. It remains to be seen how the ban will affect on the visiting times in the year 2017. According to the comments on Daily Mail article people are however already buying VPN services to continue their beloved hobby.
