New plans could slash the current delay by more than a third
According to Variety six big Hollywood studios are flirting with possibility to offer new movies to homes just weeks after their theatrical debuts. Fox and Warner Bros are considering a price of $30 could be suitable for renting new movies early. While six of the seven biggest movie studios are for shortening the period before movies are up for renting, Disney is said to be opposing the whole plan.
Movie studios are searching for new revenue models since DVD and BluRay sales continue to slide because of streaming services and online privacy.
